CRM develops video-based training programs
on a wide variety of management, supervisory, and staff training
subjects. These programs range from Ethics to Discipline,
Planning, Accountability, Decision Making, Leadership, Change
Management and dozens of other topics that form the basis of business management
and employee development.
With the pressure of today's competitive
environment, CRM's workshops need to be dynamic, efficient,
and approachable by in-house trainers and the employees they
train.
Actions
We have worked with CRM to develop activities
and exercises that are results-oriented. Each workshop is designed
to produce change in a learner's behavior or approach to their
jobs, whether they are managing a department or working on a
loading dock. The Facilitator Guides we develop to support these
workshops are designed to be used by any experienced trainer,
with clear directions and well-structured forms and activities.

CareFusion/Cardinal Health
Situation
CareFusion manufactures a series of intelligent infusion pumps used in all phases of patient care, from critical care to OR and neonatal applications. They are part of an increasingly wide ranging network of patient safety oriented devices integrated with a hospital's pharmacy, administration, and EMR infrastructure. Training on the use of
these devices and the software applications that support them must be available to a variety of audiences on an as-needed basis.
Actions
The series of Computer Based Training programs we developed
to meet CareFusion's clinical training requirements included a series of lesson based quizzes to help clinicians track their progress through the material and receive remediation as required. The modular design of these training programs allowed for periodic updates as the various software applications were upgraded.

Welch Allyn
Situation
Welch Allyn manufactures thermometers and
other medical equipment for front line patient care. Their
products are sold worldwide, and used by clinical staff that
are pressed for time in every patient interaction. Training on
their new thermometers had to take multiple forms to make sure
that it met the requirements of their learners - some prefer
to read a User Guide, others prefer to use Computer Based Training.
Actions
The Computer Based Training program we developed
to meet the clinical training requirements for Welch Allyn's
new product line was translated into French, German and Spanish.
It
is modular, allowing learners to select the information they
need, and to return to it for refresher training on specific
procedures and settings. The CBT includes Self-Checks that
test their understanding, and provides correct answers when
they miss any of the items.
Knowtes™: BD Pharmingen
Situation
BD Pharmingen is one of the world's largest
suppliers of research materials for the Biotech industry. Their
staff is knowledge intensive - with hundreds of PhDs and senior
level scientists managing a rapidly growing staff of recent
graduates and research associates.
The knowledge of these senior staff needs
to be shared, so that the junior staff can grow in their positions
and contribute on a long term basis to the company's growth.
The best resource for training is the company's staff of senior
scientists - but they are also the busiest and most expensive,
and they don't always have experience in developing practical
training for junior staff.
Actions
The Knowtes™ system provided a solution
that protected the time of these senior staff while giving
them a structure to develop effective training. In a series
of workshops, senior staff identified topics, developed a structure
for presenting them, and then built their courses. These courses
were then delivered in a series of open seminars, and stored
on an internal web site for reference and review.
