Welch Allyn manufactures thermometers and other
medical equipment for front-line patient care. Their products are
sold worldwide, and used by clinical staff that are pressed for
time in every patient interaction.
Successful implementation of their products required
the development of User Guides and a variety of training media,
from videos to Computer Based Training.
The User Guide we developed for Welch Allyn's
new thermometer was translated into 9 languages. The Guide was
heavy on illustrations, and light on copy.
The video we developed was translated into the
same nine languages - French, Italian, German, Spanish, Danish,
Dutch, Portuguese, Swedish, and simplified Chinese.
Finally, we developed Computer Based Training
that was translated into French, German and Spanish. In each case,
our translators focused on the idioms and other requirements of
the target markets.
Sony TVs are marketed worldwide. Each year,
they introduce new products, with new features and new on-screen
menus. Their development cycle is rapid and continuous.
We developed User Guides for a range of new
TVs, from high end flat screens to small, less expensive sets.
We developed a new format that supported multiple languages,
and translated the material into a range of languages for global
distribution. The key issue in this project was tailoring each
language for the target market - French for Canada, Spanish for
the Mexican market, Portuguese for Brazil.
